India, African Nations to Hold First-Ever Naval Drills With Eye on China | Vantage with Palki Sharma | N18G

India will hold its first-ever exclusive maritime drill with African nations in April. Titled Africa-India Key Maritime Engagement, the exercise will include India, Tanzania, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, and South Africa. The exercises will have two phases, the harbour and the sea phase. It will include anti-piracy operations, live fire drills and maritime dominance exercises. These drills come amid increasing Chinese presence in the Indian Ocean Region. Several African nations have raised the alarm regarding Chinese vessel activity near their maritime borders.
