The “Soul of The Summer: Juneteenth Night Market,” a pop-up event showcasing local BIPOC-owned businesses, is set to take place on Friday, June 14 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 106-38 Guy R Brewer Blvd. in Jamaica.

This evening event offers marketgoers an opportunity to explore a variety of artisanal crafts, unique services, and culinary dishes. It serves as a tribute to the southeastern Queens community and aims to support emerging local entrepreneurs. The market is open to the public at no charge.

Longtime local business owner Destinee, of Baked By Destinee, noted her decade of experience providing homemade baked goods to the community. She shares that it’s a joy to share creations with the neighborhood that supports them.

The night market is organized by Jasmin Coleman and Casida Caines. Coleman, founder of Mine Full Co., an accessory and fashion enterprise, and Caines, owner of the York 365 Event Venue where the market is hosted, are both dedicated to the economic empowerment of Black businesses.

“We are excited to build community while elevating Black ventures and voices,” Coleman said. “Our goal is to create a space where these businesses can flourish and connect with a supportive network of customers and fellow entrepreneurs.”

Caines emphasized the importance of community support. “Uplifting local entrepreneurs means investing in the success and future of our neighborhood,” she stated.
