Yesterday, Googleย celebrated Mama Cax withย a doodleย illustrated by Brooklyn-based guest artist Lyne Lucien.ย

ย

Past Doodle illustrations include historical figures and moments such asย Bessie Coleman,ย Juneteenth,ย the NAACPโ€™s silent protest parade,ย Esther Afua, and more. Wednesdayโ€™s Doodle celebratedย Cacsmy โ€œMama Caxโ€ Brutus, the Brooklyn-born but Haiti-raised model who was diagnosed with cancer at 14, resulting in the amputation of her right leg. From there, she made a commitment to living a life that made her the happiest. She started a blog, sharing lifestyle content and showcasing her stylish looks that came with a matching prosthetic leg cover. Cax soon became an inspiration for amputees worldwide, popping up in fashion spaces she could only dream about, such asย NYFW and the Savage X Fenty Fashion Show.ย

In honor of Black History Month, Googleย celebrated her life with a beautiful photo, and Caxโ€™s family thanked them forย collaborating with them on the project. โ€œWe are honored that Google is celebrating Mama Cax. Today, people are reflecting on Mama Cax as a daughter, sister, friend, model, and disability rights activist, ruminating on the imprint she undoubtedly left on their lives,โ€ย The Brutus & Vilus Family said.ย

Cax passed away in 2019 at 30 years old, but her legacy will never be forgotten.ย
