The city of North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency will be hosting its third annual “Teach to Fish: NoMi Business Summit” this week, featuring keynote speaker Timbaland.

Timbaland’s music career spans two decades as a record producer, rapper, singer and highly successful entrepreneur. Timbaland, whose real name is Timothy Zachery Mosley, has also co-founded the Verzuz webcast series and established Mosley Music Group, situating himself as a true businessman and entrepreneur in the industry.

“Timbaland is not only an iconic figure in the music industry, but a brilliant entrepreneur who has built successful, long-lasting businesses. His journey from producer to business mogul is an inspiring story of innovation, risk-taking, and resilience — qualities that are vital to any entrepreneur. We are honored to have him share his insights and strategies with our attendees,” said Councilwoman Kassandra Timothe in a press release.

The NoMi Business Summit, presented by Florida Power & Light Company’s Powering Florida’s Black-Owned Businesses Educational Programing, will be held Oct. 16-18 at the Kovens Conference Center in Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus, located at 3000 NE 151st St. The event will offer emerging and experienced entrepreneurs resources, tools and networks needed to thrive in a competitive marketplace.

This year’s summit will center around the theme “Building Your Equity,” with the aim of equipping local business owners with knowledge and strategies necessary to expand their potential.

“Small businesses are the backbone of North Miami’s economy, driving growth, innovation, and community development. The NoMi Business Summit is our commitment to ensuring these businesses have the support they need — from expert-led workshops to access to funding resources. Our goal is to help entrepreneurs build their equity and secure a prosperous future,” said Timothe.

The three-day event will begin Wednesday night with a welcome mixer at NoMi Village, followed by two full days of engagement at the FIU campus. Attendees can expect inspiring keynote speeches from visionary entrepreneurs and successful business leaders, hands-on workshops addressing real-world business challenges, strategic networking with fellow peers and industry experts, and exclusive opportunities for funding and resources.

This year’s event is open to businesses beyond North Miami, with a fee of $10 per day. Attendees will also enjoy lunch and light refreshments.
