Oh, Happy, Happy Day! Clue #10 of the Yearlong Mystery Crochet Along Is Available – Multivalence!

Hey, beautiful! I’m so excited you’re here today because I have Clue #10 of our 2023 yearlong Mystery Crochet Along (MCAL) for you! You’re making such incredible progress, and I’m so thrilled that you’re far enough along to really get a sense of the stunning blanket that you’re making!

If you’re new to the MCAL, here’s how it works… Each month in 2023, we’ll release another clue along with yarn color recommendations and a video tutorial. Follow along for the entire 12 months, and at the end of 2023, you’ll have crocheted your own incredibly stunning Multivalence blanket. In today’s video, I’ll show you how to work the three special stitches that are used in Clue #10, including the Long Triple Crochet, the Double Crochet Decrease, and the Three Double Crochet Decrease.

To crochet Multivalence, you will need 12 differently colored skeins of our luxurious, dreamy soft Mirage Sport yarn or an equivalent amount of yarn/yardage in another sport-weight yarn. For Clue #10, we used Belgian Chocolate Shavings Mirage Sport. This is VERY IMPORTANT… You will need to keep the leftover, partial skeins from the first clues because you will need them later in the pattern.

Mirage Sport is a beautiful, sport-weight blend of 70% Superwash Merino Wool, 10% Natural Baby Camel, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Mulberry Silk. So unbelievably scrumptious! Luscious and supremely soft with a gorgeous drape and structure. 350 yds/320 m per skein.

For another option, we have also compiled a set of recommended Luster Sport colors, if you would like to use that yarn base instead. The clue colors in Luster Sport are: Aeolus (1), Luscious Lavender (2), Panorama (3), Puffy Clouds (4), Nimbus (5), Librettist (6), Spruce (7), Fanciful (8), Atlas (9), and Cool Blush (10).

Each month, we’ll let you know which color we recommend for that clue, but you can also create your own color combination. We DO recommend that you choose colors with a good amount of contrast among them. If using the suggested colors or any other high contrast colors, steam blocking is strongly encouraged to avoid color transfer. We also recommend that you make and wash test swatches for all colors to check for color fastness.
