Robert Greene Mastery Full Book Review and Summary

How do you go from nothing to being a master, how do you go from paper routes to billions ( Warren), how do you go from not knowing what to name the website to building amazon (Jeff) and finally how do you from 0 subscribers to 1million ( Tommy) well that what I’m working. Mastery by Robert Greene, the man responsible for writing another great and powerful book called the 48 laws of power, which I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about.

What is Mastery by Robert Greene about?
It’s a blueprint that shows you how great men in history became masters at their craft. It teaches you how to step by step, develop your skills to the point where you pick up the traits of true masters. By master, he means people like Mozart, Tesla, and a few more individuals like Thomas Edison.

Background:
A little background on Robert Greene, his responsibility for creating 48 laws of power, laws of human nature and a few other great books. Which are a great book to create a fundamental understanding of how people behave.

Mastery by Robert Greene 3 Main Nuggets

1. Partnerships or Mentorships: Self-directed or directed by a Mentor
In the Book: Robert Greene shows a few examples of how the greatest men in history in their craft all had some type of rigid apprenticeship that they underwent. And the one that didn’t have any mentors, they mentored themselves and also learned from books. He talks about this being the period in time where your soaking in all the information all while applying your unquie ideas.

Meaning: Few Key features are that you must be opening and willing to learn.
Patients: Usually take between 4-7 years to complete this phase in life.
Ready to walk when theirs nothing else to learn: Which can be hard.

Story: For me, my Apprenticeship started when I was in college around my junior year when I realize it was time to make a difference. My mentorship was more self-directed through books because I didn’t have mentors in my circle, to teach me what I needed to learn.

Question: have you finished your apprenticeship; I’m not even close. I think by 25-27 I should be done.

2. Picking a Career or craft, you are obsessive about
In the Book:
– Times will come with doubt, boredom and terror. If you only care about money and public, when these times of hardship show themselves you won’t survive
– Always seeking to improve something your craft and combining fields. The example of a woman who wanted to be a tennis player but didn’t have the skill she needed to go pro. She also liked robotics, so she combined the two

Meaning:
– It means that a lot of choosing careers because of money or the attention they will garner
– Then they fave some adversity and they give up because you need something more than money and attention to keep you doing when you don’t have either.

Adversity: 15-40 vids into it and only getting 10 views, I didn’t really care that much I enjoyed what I was doing. And made a promise to try it for 18 months. If money was all I cared about, I would have giving up like all the other times, before this point.

3. People Dealing with them
In the Book:
– Listening to people comments. Seek mentors will tell you the truth and not try to protect you
– Sharing your ideas and finding with your co-workers or peers in a way that interests them not threaten them.

Meaning:
Zen master story
The man who discovered that not washing your hands was getting babies sick went about it the wrong way by embracing his peers and he ended up getting fired and lived a constant life of terror until the end where he left penniless ( I worded this lie this for YouTube reasons)
While: while the man who discovered how the heart pumps blood around the body, took over 10 years to get all the details correct and involved his peers so when he released it people in his field appreciated him or it.

Story:
I make videos on finance every day just like Graham, Brian, Kevin, Rickey and a few other guys on the platform. What If I started beefing with them and making a video on everything they are doing wrong and being a *a ho(e about it, it wouldn’t be in my best interest even if I was right.
