50 percent of marriage end in divorce but that shouldn’t really scare people, because most average statistics in life suck. Like average person is paycheck to paycheck, in debt, and not healthy, now just because that’s the average doesn’t mean that should worry you. If anything, it should motivate you to be bette

Here is what I learned so far, when I talk to people that have been relationships, here some of the things I hear
You never know someone.
Keep your money separate
Get a prenup
Have an escape fund
Spend time gettnig to know them, live with them, spend years with them before you go through with it
But when I here people that have married for decades speak, I hear different things like
Spend time listening and trying to understand
Love that person even when times get hard
Become one with everything
Be honest
So I wish I had time to dive deaper into this, but overally this video is about money and marriage, and if you should combine your finacnes so lets get into it
End IN Mind: Meat
Should you combine your finances
My personal opinion is Yes
And the example I always use is, if you are on boat and you have to paddle to get to where you are going
Doesn’t it make sense to work together?
And I’m also a Christian so from a biblical point, becoming one is a lot more serious than a few dollars
I think the upfront work of knowing if that’s the person you want to spend your life with or not is the most important part
Cons are
It doesn’t work you lose half of your stuff
But why would you marry someone if you have that concern
Pros are:
You have someone who you know you can count on
Ps. The person you marry is the most important part of this. I’m fully aware of gold diggers, toxic relationships and everything else
So get pre-marriage counseling
Read a few a books.
And protect your heart
Proverbs 31 is what I think about, when I think about marriage.
How would I go about Combining Finances
It really would be that complicate
It all comes down to being on the same page
And the page in my household is ( we want to financial free )
That means :
Debt free
Fully funded emergency account
Investing 10-20% for retirment and paying off the home
Now with the rest of the money we can use it to buy rental properties and build up more investments
But day to day ( I think this would be a good rule )
Have 4 joint accounts.
1 for savings and 1 for emergencies
1 for expenses ( necesities ) and 1 for Fun
Each person gets their own debit card for these accounts and we only communicate on purchases over 300-400 dollars
But the rest is fine, these are my rules
And I think is best because you don’t constantly have to be monitor or asking permission.
Two are Better than 1
But not if the two act as individuals
Be on the same page and don’t be stupid
This plan works with mature adults
However it will not work
With people with spending problems
With liars
With your boyfriend or girlfriend ( do this when married )
