Spartanburg County small businesses have new resources to help them thrive and grow. “It’s a small business development mentoring program,” said Sheila Snoddy, Spartanburg Mentoring director. The Power Up Mentoring program has just launched. “We provide a learning opportunity experience, a mentoring opportunity where our mentors are engaged with a team of two to three mentors. These mentors provide them with areas of expertise that will help build and develop their business,” said Snoddy.Mentors get paired up based on the skill sets and needs of the business owners and given the opportunity to help them grow. “How does that growth look? Of course, revenue, but it could be expansions, operations and personnel,” Snoddy said.Business owner Cynthia Cobos sells limited edition sneakers. “With the mentoring program, it allowed me to put a structure to our business and it also allowed me to look at our business in a whole new direction that is helping us a lot.” said Cobos.”We’re creating an ecosystem where not only the small businesses are strong, but the community understands the importance of small businesses,” said Snoddy. Power Up Spartanburg accepts businesses in the program that have been established for at least two years. Businesses can apply online on Power Up Spartanburg’s website.
