The City of St. Petersburg has announced a calendar of events that honors Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs this month.

August is National Black Business Month. For the month, join the City of St. Pete in recognizing and celebrating the city’s Black-owned businesses. St. Pete’s organization The Greenhouse along with the City’s Office of Supplier Diversity will bring events and programs to highlight Black entrepreneurs. All of these events are open to the public.

“Our city is home to several Black-owned businesses which help the local economy thrive; and to honor those businesses, we’re pleased to recognize August as National Black Business Month,” said Mayor Kenneth T. Welch in a press release. “Every month, but especially during August, I encourage residents to shop local and support the businesses that make our community vibrant.”

Additionally, the City announced they will host a Pillars for Progress Business Exhibition Tour, a guided, six-stop tour of local Black-owned businesses available to City officials, Council members, and regional business resource partners.
