1. What is an investment
– In the words of a simple man
– An investment is you putting into something that can guarantee you a reasonable return
– Now by guarantee I mean, you set the odds in your favor

So for example:
– Investing money into Rental properties that produce cash flow
– Investing money into index funds that pay you dividends and give you an appropriate return
– Investing money into a business you understand and making a profit
– Investing money into individuals stocks as a stock analyst and making money

Tip: you invest money to get money back

2. What is not investments
– Putting money into something that does guarantee that the odds will be in your favor
– This is also called gambling because when you gamble, you know the odds are in the favor of the house

However:
– This can be with a lot of things, buying an investment you don’t understand
– Whether that’s real estate, stocks, bitcoin, artwork, or just gambling
– Most of the time you have a big upside with low chances of winning

Tip:
– Human nature is going to lead to some of us to wanting to buy these noninvestments
– Because everyone is doing it

3. That’s why the 90-10 rule exist
– The idea is to grab 100% of the money you have for investing
– And split into two categories
– Once is for investing, making sure this money will make me money and the odds are in my favor and the other is for speculating hoping it will make you more money

The split is 90-10:
– 10% goes towards speculation and 90% goes towards investments
– This way, if you lose 100% of that 10% investment you will not mess up your retirement or networth
– This won’t put you out of work ( consider it fun money to play around, but understand this money can be lost)

4. How to use this
– Bitcoin and NFts are big speculations these days and also collectible items
– So instead of putting all your money into these
– Just put 10% if it works great and if it doesn’t then you knew the risk

Some extra advice:
– Have some rules in place

Rule 1: Never add money to this account even if it’s making you a lot of money
Rule 2: never stop investing 90% of your money in sure investments
