The Justice Department recently filed a lawsuit against Live Nation-Ticketmaster, claiming the company monopolizes markets across the live concert industry.

But the lawsuit may not solve the problem it intends to. The secondary ticket market, with companies like StubHub, SeatGeek, and Vivid Seats, plays a huge role in the economics and fan experience of live events. Resellers on these platforms can buy up tickets meant for fans and sell them at much higher prices, distorting the market and leaving fans frustrated.
