1. Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin and Joe Dominguez
– I got to reading this book, and it got me thinking and valuing the reason why people don’t really enjoy their jobs

My point of view at a certain in time was always this:
– You should work a job you enjoy
– You feel like you get fulfillment out off
– And you wake up excited to do it each day

And if you are the average people, that probably doesn’t sound bad
– But what that really is, is putting your life, happiness, and energy
– All into a job
– Is that really a place where you should be seeking to get the most value out of life from
– I don’t think so
Whatever happened:
– To relationships
– Going to church
– Having a family and kids
– Loving your neighbors
– Having a sense of community and uplifting your values

Who the heck sold us the story:
– That fulfillment, value, and status should be coming from a source of employment
– That you dedicated 40 hours of life to a job, perpetually until you are spent
– And can no longer work anymore
The author says:
– It’s why we look at stay-at-home moms as second-class citizens
– Or teachers with minimum jobs as if their jobs weren’t as important as a doctor

The answer is this: you hate your job, because your seeking things from it, that it can’t give you.

2. Some of the Common Problems and things you need to stop doing

First: Stop Identifying yourself with your Job
– You are not your job
– I spoken to people that don’t need to work
– But they cant deal with the idea of stopping while they are ahead
– They rather stop when they cant no more

Second: Stop working your Self to the Bone in the name of Success
– You know how many bad marriges there are
– And problemed life
– Because people consider their job more important than their love ones
– Then they get fired
Third: What do you have to show for all your toil
– People say, I’m proud to working in this vompany for 30 years
– And they have a bunch of debt
– Stupid toys they don’t need
– And 3 vacations that they went on
Forth: Stop Building a Cage
– If you hate your job
– Stop making it hard to quit
– The expensive house, the car, the lifestyle ( it doesn’t let you quit)
Fifth: Stop lying to yourself ( that you work to pay the bills)
– You have 4 bills
– And everything else is want
– You work to consume

3. Killing you Slowly it’s not making a Living
– You guys know the study, that if you boil water and put a frog inside, it will try to jump out
– But if you put it in cold water, and slowly raise the fire
– It will boil to death without ever trying to escape ( by the time it notices, it’ll be too late)

By the time people get home from work after 25 years
– They notice they have the house
– They have the kids in the nice colleges
– They have the cars
– And they had the vacation
– And they don’t feel fulfilled ( it’s already been 25 years )

4. Now I’m I saying don’t Work?
– No you should work, an idle man is not what you should be trying to be

For me personally:
– I’m a Christian, my life and meaning comes from Christ
– I do this job, and provides for me and my future family
– But if tomorrow I can’t do it, I’m not less of Tommy
– If I could make more dollars for the cost of ignoring my family ( I wouldn’t)
