What we lose when women leave the workforce aka the “shecession”

During the pandemic, millions of women were forced to leave the professional workforce to become primary caretakers of their children. This loss of a paycheck and employment benefits has significant impact on households across the country and their abilities to achieve their financial goals.

This trend has been coined the “shecession” and will have a direct impact on workplace culture and diversity initiatives. And according to author, Angela Garbes, this is a direct reflection of the absence two key policies; a federally mandated family leave and a universal basic income.
