Why It’s A Bad Idea To Buy A Property With Your Girlfriend/Boyfriend

So the other day I was on Reddit, and I start reading this thread about this girl who has a boyfriend and they live together and together they make about 100k or something like that. She says the relationship is great but they don’t reallly have any plans for marriage but they want to buy a condo together for about 300k.

Now 90% of the comments were screaming red flag, and she began to understand why, but for the most part she was so sure and so in love, that she really could not see anything wrong with the idea of doing something so serious with a Boyfriend

So in this video I’m going to break down, and to be trasperant, I’m a christian, so I belive you wait until marriage, to live together and to do all things that are reserved for married people. But common sense is still common ense and its pretty obvious this is stupid idea

Intentions vs Reality

I never seen someone start a business with the intentions of failing.

Start a relationship with the intentions of breaking up, unless your crazy

Or get married with the intentions of getting divorced

However the intention vs Reality are completely different

Most busines fail ( lack preparation and knowledge and others things you cant control )

A lot of relationship end ( beucase people go in with the wrong ideas )

A lot of marriage fail ( because a lot of conversations and process are not had before )

My point is this:

Its important to be self-aware of what you are getting into when you decide to get into a binding agreement with someone that you no binding agreement with

What you think vs reality can be two different things.

Consequences:

You break up, you’re stuck with this debt and the payments and a headache

Lets not get to Negative (but if that person has a tragic or early end, what happens then

If you’re married with someone, you have legally binding contract with this person

If something happens, the court knows how to proceed

And the process is a lot more simple

However: you buy a property with your BF or GF

Something happens to them

And now you have legal conflic between his parents, or maybe the brother or whoever is going to be involved

Consequences:

May force you take an action that you don’t want to take

Like to sell, or buy at a high price or whatever it is

Common sense ( you can’t stand with confidence on a bridge without a rope )

My point is a simple one, people have all of these old modern ideas

Where they want everything without commitment

The commitment to one person forever is a big one, and a lot of people say the state has nothing to do with us, we don’t need rings, but they want everything in the relationships

My point is this:

Everything in life has a process and its for a reason

Commitment between two adults is important before they start to do things that are so serious

How do have confidence in a relationship where the person can leave at any moment and have made a real commitments but you’ve already giving everything ( that’s a real danger )

So I based my Belief on the bible

However this also just common sense

That it is a terrible idea
